Hydatidosis of The Breast in Turkey: A review of 55 cases

40 articles on breast hidatidosis (echinococosis) have been recorded from domestic literatüre between 1933-97. 5 of them were published in foreign medical journals. 54 patients from these articles and a case observed in our department, totally 55 cases with breast hydatidosis were reviewed in this article. 22 breast localisations (0,24 percent) were founded among 9307 cases with hydatidosis in Turkey. Only 2 cases were male (3.6%). Cyst content was clear in 8, colloidal-granulated in 2 from total of 10 aspirated cysts. Diagnosis was confirmed histopathologically in 42 cases, by cytology 3 cases, and 10 by seeing germinative membrane macroscopically. 6 Benign opacity in 7 mammogram (85.7 percent), 3 cystic lesions with interseptal bands in 4 ultrasonogram (75 percent) were seen. Serologic tests (Immunohemagglutination, Weinberg Compleman Fixation) and other (Casoni skin allergy test, Eosinophilia above 3 percent) were applied in 13 cases. Only 9 of 22 test were positive (41 percent). 38 cases were evaluated for other organ involvement of Only 5 cases (3 lung, 1 liver and 1 lung and liver) were found to have hydatidosis (13.2 percent).

Türkiye'de Meme Hidatidozu: 55 Olgunun değerlendirilmesi

Türkiye'de saptanmış meme hidatidozlarıyla ilgili olarak 1933-97 yılları arasındaki literatürde yerli 35, yabancı 5 toplam 40 yayın saptandı. Daha önce sunulmamış 1 olgu eklenerek 55 olgunun verileri incelenmiştir. Yalnızca 2 olgu erkektir. Hidatidoz'un insan vücudundaki yerleşiminden % 0.24'ü memede olmaktadır. %94 olguda lezyon tektir. Aspire edilen 10 kistin 8'i berrak (kaya suyu), 2'si tortulu ve kolloidal görünümlüydü. 42 olguda histopatolojik, 3 olguda sitolojik ve 10 olguda ise makroskobik doğrulama sağlandı. 7 mamografiden 6'sında selim opasite, 4 ultrasonografiden 3'ünde interseptal band görüldü. Serolojik testlerin yapıldığı 13 olguda pozitiflik oranı %41'idi. Hidatidozun primer olup olmadığı incelenen 38 olgudan 5'inde (%13.2) akciğer ve/veya karaciğer hidatidozu saptandı.
