Two Cases with Fibroepithelial Polyps of the Ureter

The fibroepithelial polyps (FP) of the urinary tract a re benign mucosal projections. Most of them are localized in the ureter and they may cause hydronephrosis and chronic infection by obliterating the lumen of the ureter. Differential diagnosis must be done from other benign and malignan lesions of urinary tract. A 41 year-old- male, admitted with hematuria and a 33 year-old male admitted with flank pain and fever are presented. In case one ureterorenoscopy revealed a 2x2 cm polipoid mass obstructing distal portion of the right üreter and a distal ureterectomy was performed. The second patient undergone lef t nephrectomy for hydronephrosis and a polipoid mass of 4x5 mm in diamater was found at the ureteropelvic junction. Histological, histochemical and immunohistochemical data of the resected specimens of both cases indicated benign fibroepithelial polyps of the ureter. The patients are presented to attract attention for the fibroepithelial polyps of the urinary tract which may cause hydronephrosis and chronic pyelonephritis and to avoid misdiagnosis.

İki Olgu Nedeniyle Üreterin Fibroepitelial Polipleri

Üriner sistemin fibroepitelial polipleri (FP), iyi huylu mukozal çıkıntılardır. En sık üreterde yerleşirler ve lümeni tıkayarak hidronefroz, kronik infeksiyon kliniğine neden olabilirler. Üriner sistemin diğer benign ve malign lezyonları ile ayırıcı tanı yapılması önem taşır. Kanlı idrar yapma yakınması ile başvuran 41 yaşındaki erkek, yan ağrısı ve ateş ykınmaları ile başvuran 33 yaşındaki erkek olgu sunulmuştur. Birinci olguda üreterorenoskopide sağ üreter distalini tıkayan 2x2 cm polipoid kitle saptanarak distal üreterektomi yapılmıştır. İkinci olguda hidronefroz nedeni ile sol nefrektomi uygulanmış, üreteropelvik bileşkeden köken alan 4x5 mm çapında polipöz kitle saptanmıştır. Her iki olgu, postoperative örneklerinin histopatolojik ve histokimyasal incelemeleri sonunda üreter yerleşimli fibroepitelyal polip tanısı almışlardır. Her iki olgu hidronefroz ve kronik pyelonefrite neden olabilen üriner sistemin fibroepitelial poliplerine dikkat çekmek amacı ile sunulmuştur.
